What does “holistic” skincare look like? What does “holistic” skincare
even mean?
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “if you can’t eat it, you shouldn’t put it on your skin.” But how many rancid oils are you clogging your pores with? Would you eat rancid oils? (Chances are you already do, because our food industry is overrun with plant and nut oils that have been over-processed to the point of being rancid, and no longer stable and when ingested causing free radicals in the body. But that’s a conversation for another post 😅)
Anyways, I digress, the truth is, our skin has some of the most important roles. It serves so many functions.
•primary protective organ
•temperature control
•excretion
•maintains stable internal environment
✨Just to name a few….
So why does it matter what we put on our skin? Because our skin absorbs everything going straight into the body and internal organs. If it’s not good for your internal organs, it’s probably not good for your external organs either. They all work together.
On a different note, skin is also how we manifest our physical contact with the outer world. Our environment. Our relationships. It is where our inner world meets the physical world. And often, inner issues can be reflected through our skin's health. Many skin [𝕯𝖎𝖘-𝖊𝖆𝖘𝖊]s are a result of an internal problem. Our skin serves as a mirror to our gut health a lot of the time and our nutrition intake.
That’s why I create, seemingly, simple body potions.
I got tired of searching for the best product with the best ingredients. They all had labels with ingredients that ended up being full of bullshit and lies.
Having a scientific mindset and following my intuition, I am moving forward with reformulating my products. Going forward, I will be replacing the cocoa butter in my salves and ritual body creams with local, organic tallow.
•Tallow, as I have researched, is one of the most beneficial, sustainable, bioregional, and ancient practices for our skin.
Next week I’ll do a “tallow talk” and give you all the details.
