January Plant Spotlight: Spruce

This year I've decided to dedicate each month to discuss a specific plant. January's plant spotlight was Spruce.

𝖘𝖕𝖗𝖚𝖈𝖊

For my first plant spotlight, I want to introduce the spruce tree. This was my first plant to intuitively connect with and formulate my own product with.

Spruce, is a POWER house in so many ways. Packed full with vitamin c, super anti-microbial, antifungal, & so much more. Spruce resin in particular is highly cellular regenerative, restorative, & contains many healing properties for the skin.

Spruce can also be used for sore throats, colds/flus, as an expectorant, and even a bitters! (Those who have kidney issues should take caution when working with spruce & consult their medical professional).

Energetically spruce is grounding, warming & drying

In ritual use, spruce has been known to be associated with Artemis, Odin, new beginnings, winter solstice, duality, & Ohsweda the sprit. Making spruce great for astral projections, channeling, sitting in the power, new moon rituals, developing your intuition, grounding, protecting the home, cleansing, and working to become renewed and resilient.

Spruce is the main ingredient in my 𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖆𝖑 𝖘𝖆𝖑𝖛𝖊𝖘 & 𝖑𝖎𝖕 𝖇𝖆𝖑𝖒𝖘. I wild-harvest spruce from my region(upstate NY) from pitch that has dropped below the wound site. Be mindful when harvesting resin that you do not procure it from the open wound as it serves as a barrier to protect the tree. ✨
